Hopes for Frozen 2? Elsa gets a big sister moment. Preferably cuddling Anna after a nightmare or a near-death incident. I want my Snow Queen to kick ass while wearing pants (because Caissie Levy rocked that look) but also to continue being a big old softie for her sister. I would die if that happens.
Thoughts on the musical? Perfection. Yes, I know the movie is the original, but I am so so happy with how they handled bringing it to life on stage. Not to mention the wonderfully perfect casting. Caissie Levy and Patti Murin are the literal embodiment of Elsa and Anna respectively, and I’m so glad I got to see them live!
Any favorite head canons/theories? Oof, I don’t really have many, but I would say asexual Elsa is mine. Even though I have become an ardent Casselsa shipper, I still like to see Elsa as asexual because it just feels right to me. Also, Tumblr and the Frozen fandom is how I discovered what asexuality was, so interpreting Elsa as ace means a lot to me since it helped me realize my own asexuality. At this point, my head canon has shifted more towards Elsa as ace lesbian, but asexual Elsa will always be close to my heart.
Unpopular opinion? Hmm, this one is hard. I do have a suspicion that Anna will not actually marry Kristoff, or at least that would be fine with me. I guess some people would not appreciate that notion because Kristanna. I don’t know, I just figure Anna wants to be around Elsa a lot more even though Kristoff is a good guy.
NOTP? Anything involving Hans. Just no. While I am not a big fan of Elsanna (especially in an incestuous context), I must admit that any ship with Hans is worse because he’s a fucking sociopath.
Least favorite character? Probably a tie between the trolls and Hans. Although the Hidden Folk in the musical were a lot more fun, so Hans is for sure the one I love to hate. If he comes back in the sequel, it better be so that Anna can punch him into the fjord again.
Thoughts on the Russian calendar? WOW. I was definitely not expecting any teasers or hints at what may come this early, but this is a welcome surprise. Even if it does turn out to be a fake, watching all the fandom traffic is exciting. Anna and Elsa look fabulous, so I hope these are their actual outfits for the sequel!
olofahere made this scale to rate Elsanna levels in Frozen merchandise. I had this idea to use it for Frozen Fever.
Just in case: this is stricly for fun, I repeat, for fun. Did I say fun? So please don’t tell me that I get it all wrong. And boy, it was hard to choose screencaps, for every score there were always a few fitting. Choices, choices…
0. Actively non-elsanna. Anna and Kristoff, or Elsa dancing with whoever that guy was in that comic. (We all hate him, right?)

Elsa and Kristoff without Anna works as fine, yes?
1. No interaction between Elsa and Anna.

No interaction.
2. Elsa and Anna being completely 100% Snow Sisters. Wholesome innocent fun. Highest possible rating for lil’ Elsa and lil’ Anna.

Innocently holding hands.
3. Elsa and Anna being innocently fond of each other in an entirely appropriate way.

“Follow the (red) string (of fate)!”
4. Elsa and Anna being rather more fond of each other than most siblings, but not in a surprising way.

The Look of Love while on a swing.
5. Elsa and Anna being very, very close sisters.

So close that it is a little creepy.
6. Elsa and Anna being rather romantic, but still excusable as very close sisters who are making up for lost time.

“I’m giving you the sun, the moon and the sky.”
7. Elsa and Anna behaving in a way that could be undeniably romantic if you didn’t know better.

The hug and the cheek caress.
8. So flat-out romantic you couldn’t even be in denial about it.

Bedroom eyes. Holding hands.
9. Pride Parade.

The engagement bracelet.
10. 100% undeniable “this is canon” level elsanna. Send out the engagement notices. Passionate kisses and up.

The wedding cake.

While I am a hardcore supporter of #giveelsaagirlfriend, at the same time from a day one of F2 announcement, I am saying that Elsa would stay ambiguous. But let’s speculate about how far they can go.
No matter how we want to be nice about it, Disney is a company. Their goal is to earn money. Frozen 2 is planned to be a hit. It’s safe to say that Disney aims for it to break the record of Frozen. It means that Disney won’t dare to show anything explicit in LGBT agenda. While the experiment with Beauty and the Beast proved that an officialy gay character did no damage to the movie, maybe even the opposite (BatB earned worldwide $1,263,521,126 while Frozen $1,276,480,335, so I would say it was a big success), Elsa is a bit more important than Le Fou ;) to experiment with her too much. Even if a situation of LGBT people improved drastically worldwide since 2013 and even if we have canon wlw couples in cartoons, Disney most likely doesn’t feel like bearing all consequences of “she gay” statement.
But Frozen 2 needs a fuel for merchandise. While everybody loves Anna and Elsa, there is a need for somebody fresh, a new female character that will be attractive for young girls to the point they would want dolls and all the merch. So I have no doubt that there will be such character introduced in F2. And she can be the source of great lesbian subtext. We can speculate long and hard about how she will be, options are endless. The question is, what will make her popular? What did make Elsa popular? Ice magic. So I have a suspicion that they will create another magic girl. And to make it metaphorical, she also should have ice powers. Working together with Elsa at some point.
This is the way I see they will make some gay subtext.

You’re asking me about my theories? I’ve waited years for someone to ask me. Hang on. I made a model!
The list of, well, female characters that will be in Frozen 2 and are a potential girlfriend material, is endless. I have imagination you know ;). Of course until we know more about the plot of Frozen 2 it is impossible to choose one that fits it the best.
But my favorite now is Helve, a Sami girl we created with @carrieasagiri
She is everything Elsa is not and at first only one thing they have in common is ice magic. Helve was raised by people who knew everything about it, so from a day one she was learning how to use it without hurting anybody. Well, unless hurting somebody was a goal. Helve has no fear in using her powers, but also is super practical about it. For her using magic is like breathing, she uses it even for simple daily tasks. Her magic is impressive, but not as beautiful as Elsa’s. Why another character with the same powers? Why Elsa cannot stay this special one and only? Because it is always a relief when you realize that you are not alone and that somewhere there are others like you. And Elsa has problems with her ice magic (one of reasons they have to travel) and she needs somebody who can help her. And who is the better candidate than ice magic master and deliverer

Ahaha, a very good point, which as Elsanna shipper I understand perfectly. If Anna and Elsa relationship is platonic, then a relationship between Elsa and some girl showing similar level of affection can be platonic too. Very easy way to get away with a really high level of gayness 😉
I am telling it with some bitterness, because lesbians are erased this way all the time. That’s why for some reason I believe that creators of Frozen 2 will be more… evil and subtle than that. They’ve proved already that they are capable of presenting a very high level of… suggestions. I see it very fitting to combine Elsa’s introvert character that won’t allow her to be easily open to strangers with subtlety of Anna and Kristoff’s romance.
No kidding, I see in my head almost a carbon copy of Anna and Kristoff’s interactions from Frozen, FF and OFA that would play perfectly for Elsa and The Girl. And it would be a quite wicked way to present us a subtext. Of course there would be some expected changes like no lesbian kiss on the big screen, but this could be easily replaced by ‘safer’ interaction, that, thanks to Elsa’s reserved personality, would speak volumes. “May I?” asks The Girl offering to Elsa her arm as a support while they walk to talk to Arendelle crowd. “Yes, you may.” Says the queen and they walk arm in arm.

For everyone debating about how old Anna (and Elsa) is in Frozen 2, let’s compare Anna look from Frozen where she was 18 years old with her current look but with reference to her sister, because we know how Elsa’s look changed with time.

This is Elsa when she was 18 years old and then when she was 21, but wait

This is Elsa when she was 21 but two days later, and this is Elsa now.
The first conclusion? Damn, CG went a long way since 2013.
The second conclusion? Disney tries very hard to make sisters look as great as possible. We saw it in OFA, where they are supposedly only a few months older than in Frozen.

The third conclusion? There is a big change in Elsa’s looks between 18 and 21 years old. Actually the change is extreme, not only she looks more mature, she looks different.
But this is what happens to people in real life. They have a big jump in looks in their early twenties, and then, if nothing drastic happens, they are “frozen” in time for about twenty years. After that they start to look older.
So the fourth conclusion is that new Anna can be totally 21 years old and actually while she looks a bit older than in Frozen, the change is not as drastic as for her sister. Of course Anna can be older than 21 (or younger), we have this 20 years limit to go, but I wonder if Disney wants to make a princess movie for kids about adults that are as old as their parents.
BTW As for Anna’s loose hair, while it gives vibes of queen moms from other Disney princess movies, let’s not forget that more princesses than not have their hair free and not in braids. Actually Anna and Elsa are the only ones with braids?

LOL good question.
My first reaction as a lesbian is to say yes. But it’s stereotyping. I mean, like, have you seen a lipstick lesbian? Go watch Let It Go 😀
First and foremost, if these leaks are the real thing, we see a queen, no, Queen, confident, determined, powerful. The simple change of clothes gave us Elsa that we always wished for but saw only a glimpses of here and there.
The same goes to Anna, a small change of clothes and hair replaced old feistypants clumsy Anna with a Princess, respectable, responsible, dignified.
As a side note, the creators of Frozen/2 are very intelligent, smart and weathered people. I do believe that in the sequel they will continue their special way of presenting the story we witnessed in Frozen and Frozen Fever. Everything will have many layers and meanings, many ways to be interpreted. Are Elsa’s new clothes just practical for travelling in good style or there is something more to them?
I am so glad that 100% of the fanfic writers in the Frozen fandom doing post-movie fics always make sure that Elsa is a workaholic and insomniac person who doesn’t have spare time to play with Anna because she’s overloaded with Queen duties, only based on literally one (1) letter she apparently wrote to Weselton, just for the drama of it all
by glad I mean constantly internally crying because it’s undoubtedly in character
Bringing this back because in the thousand of Frozen fanfics I ever read I never encounter any single time a situation where Elsa lowkey hates doing paperwork and is not busy at some point with administrative duties, so right now I’m concerned because what if we got it really wrong and it’s revealed in canon in Frozen 2 that Elsa actually is not in charge of paperwork at all
To be honest that’s a worry, not because we’d be wrong, but because I’m afraid that Disney wants to avoid being boring. So far, all we’ve seen of Elsa’s responsiblies as Queen have been planning parties/attending parties. And that’s fine for the shorts, and I’m not really suggesting that a Queen wouldn’t do that too, but I’m worried that Disney doesn’t want to commit to Elsa being a Queen. They’ve never had a Queen like Elsa before. In the past, Queens were either evil, so anything they did to show them ruling a kingdom involved ordering subjects around and doing evil things, or they were moms/wives often to a king, so the king was shown to do more of the work if the royal parents were shown governing much at all. The focus was always on the princess, who would do princess things like planning parties, or playing around with animal friends, or just kinda enjoying life in general. I’m not saying Disney was bad in their depictions, but they can get away with their royal characters not having much responsibility because they aren’t the ones leading the country - their boring parents are. So as storytellers, Disney could focus on the characters the kids watching would want to see, and keep the politics of running a country to a minimum because that wouldn’t be as interesting.
The thing is, though, is that showing off that responsibility is a good thing for kids to see, especially little girls. I’m not saying they should depict Elsa exactly like we do where all she does is sit at a desk drawing up tax laws, but they need to stop shying away from showing her acting as a Queen. She’s not just a princess with a fancier title: she’s the most important person in her kingdom with the most responsibility and authority (ok I know it likely wouldn’t be that simple given the time period but I doubt Disney’s going to take time to explain constitutional monarchies when it’s easier to say Queen = leader). They’ve shown strong leadership growth with male characters who become King (look at Simba from the Lion King). But they’ve yet to show a woman in a starring role of a movie exercising her authority as the reigning monarch where she doesn’t take a backseat to the younger “princess” character because that’s more fun for the kids watching.
Elsa can be a fantastic role model to little girls. She already is. But they can take it a step further by showing how her work ethic and incredible respect for her responsibilities can make a good leader. Like, we do get a sense of that in how she plans the parties in FF and OFA. There were so many intricate details that went into both parties that you know Queen Perfectionism was involved. But they need to take it a step further, make it just a little more obvious, that you can be a beautiful, powerful Snow Queen with a warm heart and a playful streak a mile long but still also have a strong sense of duty by doing what is necessary to run a kingdom.
Little boys get to watch heroes and Kings taking on strong leadership roles all the time. How come the best little girls get is “Princess”, not “Queen”?
I promise you, if the leak is real, your wish is granted. Her new look screams QUEEN. Or even KING (as a superior to the female title) with capital letters and all, including a clenched fist, muscles cramped from signing too many documents.
When you see a somehow problematic post that is also kinda ironic, because

So, kindly reminder for those who hate people who love Elsa more than other Frozen characters that Elsa is also glorified by Frozen creators.
